Overview and History:
For more than 70 years, the Peninsula Jewish Community Center (PJCC) has worked to inspire a sense of community in San Mateo County, with over 37,000 Jewish residents. Situated between San Francisco and Palo Alto, the PJCC is among the top 10 JCCs in North America. With a 12-acre home in Foster City, the PJCC’s goal is to provide programs and services that reinforce the values and traditions the Jewish community embraces, while also serving the broader community.

The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) will spearhead, oversee, and execute the PJCC’s full range of marketing and communications initiatives. Reporting directly to the CEO, this senior managerial position will join a growing, transformational leadership team. The CMO will meaningfully contribute to the organization’s sustainability, community reputation, and future direction by honing its value proposition and consistently and compellingly articulating its impact in community-facing and donor-facing messaging and publicity.

A successful candidate will bring 7+ years of proven success in a leadership position leading marketing activities for a complex organization. The CMO will set target outcomes, develop strategy, create plans for implementation, and ensure effective alignment of marketing activities agency wide. The CMO will be charged with increasing awareness about the PJCC in the community and participation in its services and programs, and driving vital fundraising and programmatic revenue.

Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, measure, and assure strong execution of all agency-wide, year-round marketing and communications activities
• Provide day-to-day management and supportive guidance for all members of the marketing team; track supervisees’ tasks, deadlines, and priorities
• Develop comprehensive communication strategies and calendars reflective of the PJCC’s mission and strategic priorities
• Identify highest impact opportunities to achieve results through promotional campaigns, PR, and marketing efforts across all channels
• Create and adapt annual marketing plans for individual departments and programs to maximize awareness of and participation in PJCC offerings
• Work with department heads to identify opportunities to leverage revenue through increased visibility of programs and services across demographics
• Set goals and strategy for maximizing social and digital media to increase client and funder engagement across a diverse constituent base
• Develop resonant value proposition language and imagery to build awareness of the PJCC’s impact, purpose, and brand among existing and potential clients and key stakeholders
• Prepare and present reports on marketing strategies, goals, deliverables, and anticipated outcomes to senior professional leadership and board
• Participate in high-level organizational strategy discussions and decisions

Qualifications & Skills:
• 7+ years of professional experience in marketing or related leadership roles, preferably in nonprofit settings
• Significant supervisory experience in managing teams, including providing timely and constructive feedback to supervisees
• Ability to clearly and inspirationally articulate the PJCC’s value proposition across multiple audiences
• Proven success in leadership roles within complex organization/s
• Demonstrated strategic thinking and data driven decision making ability
• Effective time management skills
• Clear and persuasive verbal and written communication skills; sophisticated interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented with the ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks
• Aptitude for identifying innovative approaches to challenges
• Experience developing qualitative and quantitative measures to track impact
• Comfort with Microsoft Office Suite; Salesforce experience a plus
• Familiarity with community centers and/or interest in Jewish community building a plus
• Willingness to work in-office five days a week and occasional nights or weekends
• Undergraduate degree required
